Fried Walleye Fillets – Old School

We used to make this at the cabin with grandma and grandpa.  Dad caught some walleye and brought it back to the cities the other day, so I thought I’d break this recipe out.  What a great idea!


Fresh walleye fillets (10 2-3 oz fillets)

Saltine crackers (1 pkg, not 1 box) or breadcrumbs with S+P added

2 eggs

1 cup flour

canola or vegetable oil for frying

Instructions: take the fillets and cover them in the flour, the next few steps have to happen very quickly, so make sure if you want to take a pause, you do it here.  Coat them then in the egg, then immediately in the crackers, then put them immediately in the hot oil.  Brown both sides and serve!  A great cabin favorite.
